Plouguerneau Central Kitchen (France)

The central kitchen of Plouguerneau in France is a project by CAP Architecture capable of preparing up to 1,000 meals a day to meet the needs of the community's school and out-of-school clubs.

500 m² of space divided into 27 workspaces to prepare an organic kitchen based on local produce.

Strict specifications for a building that must be functional and deliver high thermal performance.

For this project, our QuadCore IND Insulated Panel met these variables perfectly.

The QuadCore technology used for the insulating core of our sandwich panels delivers the best energy performance on the market with a Lambda value of 0.018 W/m. K as a declared value resulting from CE marking. 

Our insulated sandwich panels offer a high level of fire peformance and, depending on their thickness, can also be used as 1-hour fire walls (EI60). 

Our sandwich panels also enhance environmental performance supported by their EPD's.

They were installed in both walls and partitions and were used to clad the building with an elegant anthracite-grey exterior, as well as for insulation and interior use in a kitchen that required cladding specifically designed for this application.

Different thicknesses were used for the partitions, both for the technical rooms, preparation rooms, positive and negative cooling rooms, etc.

With these 200 mm panels, a 1-hour fire wall (EI60) was also installed to separate the waste room from the rest of the building.

At the same time, Isocab By Kingspan supplied service and cooling doors that met the isothermal and structural constraints of the building.

No fewer than 6 colours were used for the service doors with a wide range of accessories (door closers, oculus, etc.) to adapt to the different premises.
